ABOUT DESIGN INDUSTRIES
We Make Atlassian Work
Design Industries has been doing this since 2000. We've seen Atlassian grow from a startup product to enterprise standard. We've helped organisations scale from 50 users to 7,000+. And we're still based in Melbourne, still hands-on, still methodical about getting things right.

Our Story
We started Design Industries because we kept seeing the same pattern: organisations investing in powerful Atlassian platforms but not having the specialist support to unlock their full potential. Capable tools underutilised. Teams not yet realising what their environment could do for them. Twenty-plus years later, we're still solving the same problem—just at larger scale.
We've grown from a specialist consultancy into one of Australia's most experienced Atlassian partners. Our clients range from government departments to ASX-listed companies, from 50-person teams to enterprises with thousands of users.
What hasn't changed is how we work. We're methodical. We document everything. We measure outcomes. We don't disappear after implementation—we stay and make sure things actually work.

How We Work
We're Methodical
Every engagement follows patterns we've refined across hundreds of implementations. Not rigid templates—patterns. Proven approaches adapted to your specific situation. This means fewer surprises, faster delivery, and outcomes you can actually measure.
We Stay Involved
Most of our client relationships span years. We don't do "implement and disappear." Our Digital Factory model means we're invested in your platform's long-term success—not just getting it live.
We Transfer Knowledge
We build your capability, not dependency on us. Every engagement includes training and documentation. When your team can handle things independently, we've done our job right.
We're Responsive
Our Sundown Rule: every enquiry gets same-day response. When you need us, we're there.
MEET YOUR PIT CREW
Leadership: Michael Dockery
Chief Strategist
Michael founded Design Industries with a simple premise: Atlassian implementations should actually work. Twenty years in, he's still hands-on with key client relationships, still involved in complex implementations, still pushing the team to find better ways of doing things.
His approach combines technical depth with commercial pragmatism—understanding that platforms need to deliver business outcomes, not just tick technical boxes. Before Atlassian dominated the market, Michael was already helping organisations figure out how to collaborate better. That perspective—understanding what these tools are actually for—shapes how Design Industries approaches every engagement.

The Team
We're a 25-person team based in Melbourne. Certified Atlassian specialists, project managers, technical consultants, and support engineers. Most of us have been here for years—we don't have the churn you see at larger consultancies.
This matters because continuity matters. When you call us, you get people who know your environment, understand your history, and remember the decisions you made two years ago.
Our approach to hiring: We look for people who are curious, methodical, and actually care about outcomes. Technical skills can be taught. Attitude can't.

What We Do
Managed Services
Digital Factory is our flagship offering—ongoing management of your Atlassian platform. Licensing, support, continuous improvement. All handled. You focus on your actual job.
Learn More →AI Implementation
AI Fast Start gets Atlassian Intelligence and Rovo working properly in 2–3 weeks. Most organisations have AI features sitting dormant in their licences. We turn them on and make sure they get used.
Learn More →Implementation & Migration
New Atlassian deployments. Cloud migrations. Complex integrations. We've done hundreds of these across every industry vertical.
Learn More →Training & Enablement
Platform adoption is about people, not technology. We train teams to actually use what's been built for them.
Learn More →The Three Pillars of Your Atlassian Environment
To get the most from your Atlassian platform, three areas need to work together seamlessly. Design Industries' Digital Factory manages all three — so your environment is built for long-term performance, not just today's requirements.
KEY SERVICES

How We Manage Your Platform
Our Digital Factory model covers three pillars — so your Atlassian environment stays optimised, supported, and continuously improving.
PILLAR 1
Licensing Optimisation
We ensure your Atlassian licences are current, consolidated, and optimised for your actual usage — no overspend, no gaps, no billing complexity.
Complimentary — included with every Digital Factory engagement
PILLAR 2
Platform Support
Day-to-day platform operations — user onboarding, project setup, configuration changes, and issue resolution. Responsive support when your team needs it.
Included — no hours deducted from your allocation
PILLAR 3
Strategic Improvements
Continuous optimisation of your Atlassian environment — workflow automation, AI activation, process refinement, and platform enhancements that deliver measurable business outcomes.
Where your prepaid hours go — maximum value, zero waste
Pillars 1 and 2 are included at no additional cost. Every prepaid hour goes directly to Pillar 3 — strategic work that moves your platform forward.
A HIGH-PERFORMANCE PIT CREW
How we make it happen?
We create high-performance systems akin to a road-going Formula One vehicle – and we use Atlassian software to run them. DI act as your pit crew, performing short tactical work like upgrades, training, adding teams and workflows, to longer-term projects like developing comprehensive solutions that are continually improved, and Atlassian license support.

“Michael and the Design Industries team have done an incredible job managing the scope and stand-up of our Atlassian instance.
The rigour and detail in their process and documentation is incredible.”
Dave Keating
Chief Operating Officer,
Clemenger BBDO

“We reduced a number of tools across regions that caused miscommunication and inefficiency, bringing everyone into a single platform. By using the DI Configuration Patterns, we rapidly scaled Atlassian from 500 to 7,000 users, at the bare minimum doubling the efficiency of out teams, who are working on corer bank payment systems such as our .com."
Paul Anastasopoulos
Platform Manager, ANZ
